Gary Ogilvie

Gary Ogilvie is entering his first season as the Golden Eagles Women’s Soccer Head Coach after spending three seasons as Assistant for the Men’s program. Since arriving as an assistant in the fall of 2020, Ogilvie helped the Men to a National Runner-Up, a Super-Regional Championship, four Mountain East Conference Tournament Championships, and three MEC Regular Season Championships with a total record of 49-4-3.


Ogilvie is also the Head Coach for USL2 team, West Virginia United. In his first season, United made the playoffs for the third time in history, with a club record of 10 wins in a season.


Before coming to the capital, Ogilvie spent a year at Snow College, where he served as Men's & Women's Assistant coach, as well as a stint as Interim Head Coach of both programs.


Prior to coaching in the U.S, Ogilvie played in the ISPS Handa Premiership in New Zealand, for Canterbury United. Ogilvie was also the Canterbury United Youth Coach and Football Development Officer for Mainland Football. Before heading to NZ with his wife, Charlie, Ogilvie spent two years back home in England playing for Concord Rangers in the National League South.


Ogilvie graduated from Florida Institute of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management. During his two seasons at Florida Tech, Ogilvie earned a place in 2 x Regional First Team squads, as well as an All-American Honorable mention.


Ogilvie holds an NZF/OFC B-License, and graduated with his Master’s of Science in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston in December 2021.

Jim Kirk

Coach Kirk is entering his eighth season as Assistant Coach for the University of Charleston women’s soccer program. Coach Kirk served as the assistant coach with the men’s soccer program for three years prior to joining the women’s soccer program. During his time with the men’s soccer program, the men won three consecutive regular season conference championships, three consecutive conference tournament championships and advanced in the NCAA tournament twice reaching the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight rounds. The women’s program has made the conference tournament five out of the last six years, advancing to the finals and semi-finals most years. During this period the women’s program has competed in the NCAA tournament twice. Jim has coached youth soccer winning at the state, regional and national levels for the last sixteen years.


He has had the privilege of coaching several players named to the All-Conference team, NSCAA All-Region team, Freshman-of-the-Year, Daktronics All-Region and Daktronics All-American. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Systems from Bellevue University and a Chemistry degree from West Virginia State University. Jim is certified through the ISSA Strength and Conditioning Association and serves as a strength and conditioning coach and goalkeeper coach within the women’s soccer program. Coach Kirk has been a long standing member of the United Soccer Coaches Association and holds Goalkeeper Certification.
