Sinead McSharry

Sinead McSharry was named the head women's soccer coach at St. Lawrence University in January 2018.

McSharry, the fifth coach in program history, comes to St. Lawrence after a successful five-year stint as the assistant women's soccer coach, recruiting coordinator and strength and conditioning coach at Hamilton College.

In her five seasons with the Saints, she has posted a 35-20-9 record and advanced to the Liberty League semifinals in 2018 and 2019. She has coached two USC Scholar All-Americas, back-to-back All-Region honorees in Julia Mulhern and Hannah Arment and has coached eleven All-Conference players, and had 16 members earn Liberty League All-Academic honors in 2022.

McSharry helped lead Hamilton to an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III championships in 2017. The Continentals finished sixth in the NESCAC (New England Small College Athletic Conference) regular season standings, upset Middlebury 1-0 in the quarterfinal round of the NESCAC championship and nearly pulled off another upset against Tufts in the conference semifinals, falling to the Jumbos 3-2. Hamilton ranked 22nd nationally in shutout percentage (.611) last year, and the Continentals also qualified for the NESCAC quarterfinals in 2015 and 2016.

During McSharry's tenure at Hamilton, three players earned Second-Team All-NESCAC honors, 40 were named Academic All-NESCAC, and four earned All-NESCAC Sportsmanship Awards.

In addition to her role at Hamilton, McSharry served as the Director of Coaching for the Odyssey Sport FC in Utica, New York, since 2013, and was the Regional Coach for the Empire Development Academy since October 2017. She also served as the Lead Soccer Coach at Manchester United FC in Manchester, England, from 2010-2014, where she was one of 20 staff members chosen to attend the Manchester United Premier Cup in Shanghai, China.

She also volunteered as a lead coach at FOOTICA, is a program inspired by Luma Mufleh of "Fugees Family," a former Smith College soccer player. FOOTICA is an after-school program that offers free soccer coaching to refugee/underserved children living in the city of Utica.

McSharry graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sport science from London's University of Greenwich. She earned her Masters of Science in exercise and sports studies from Smith College, while serving as the graduate assistant soccer coach and teaching fellow, and holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Gloucestershire and a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Physical Education from the University of Greenwich.

She holds her UEFA B & USSF B coaching license, a CSCS strength and conditioning certification and is a Coach-Mentor Facilitator for the U.S. Soccer Foundation.

As an athlete, McSharry played professionally for the Millwall Lionesses FC in the National Premier League.

Willi Steinrotter

Willi Steinrotter also works with the Saints' soccer programs as an assistant coach. He came to St. Lawrence after serving as the head men's soccer coach at Clarkson for 19 years, becoming the winningest coach in the program's history. He coached his 1993 Empire Athletic Association championship team to the NCAA Division III semifinals and his 1998 team lost in overtime to St. Lawrence in the regional final. He had two national All-America team members during his Clarkson tenure and 12 regional All-America selections. He was 1993 EAA and NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year in soccer.

Steinrotter was named the Alpine skiing coach at St. Lawrence in the spring of 2009. During his tenure, he has continued to grow the program into one of the best in the Northeast. He coached his first collegiate All-American in 2011, when Ashley-Kate Durham '13 finished in third place overall at the NCAA Championships. Steinrotter then had three skiers earn bids to the 2012 NCAA Championships, the most in a season in program history.

In 2017, three skiers earned National Collegiate All-Academic Ski Team honors from the United States Collegiate Ski Coaches Association (USCSCA). Steinrotter also coached multiple athletes to their first EISA top-10 finishes.

Steinrotter, a 1989 graduate of Hobart and a skier/coach on the Hobart and William Smith club ski teams while in college, left Clarkson as the program's all-time leader in wins as a soccer coach and also led several of his Alpine ski teams to the U.S. Collegiate Ski and Snowboarding Association national championships. Steinrotter’s Alpine teams at Clarkson were consistently among the best in the Adirondack region of the USCSA and his 2008-09 team produced two USCSA All America skiers. A former president of the USCSA, he took teams to five straight national championship meets from 2000-2004 and had a sixth place finish in the 2007 national championships.
