Rebecca Gunn

Rebecca Gunn is entering her sixth season as head coach of the women's soccer team after taking over the program in November of 2013.


In her second season Gunn led the Bees to a 12-5-2 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in conference play. SCAD captured their first Sun Conference regular season title since 2008 and hosted the Sun Conference Tournament. The Bees advanced to the semifinals before falling to Thomas 3-2. Gunn was also named The Sun Conference Women's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2015.


In her first season at the helm, Gunn led the Bees to a 13-7 record and SCAD advance to the finals of The Sun Conference tournament before falling to Northwood 3-1.


Prior to becoming the head coach of the Bees, Gunn served as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program for the previous eight seasons.


Gunn came to SCAD after serving as an assistant coach for the University of Minnesota-Morris (UMM) women's soccer team. She was a four-year standout for the Cougars as a three-time All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference selection, as well as an All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) performer. She was named the UMAC Co-Player of the Year in 2003.


Gunn currently holds UMM records for goals (55), assists (45) and points (155) in a career. She also scored 11 match-winning goals in her career for the Cougars, and is one of 15 players in the nation to achieve at least 40 goals and 40 assists in her career.


In 2016, Gunn was inducted into the University of Minnesota-Morris Hall of Fame.


Gunn graduated from UMM in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in sports management. She holds a State Goalkeeping Diploma as well as a National License from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. She also holds a “D” License from the United States Soccer Federation.


Gunn and her husband, Keith, are parents of two daughters, Jordan Elaine and Ryanne, and they reside in Savannah.

Sinead Byrne

Byrne joins the SCAD women’s soccer coaching staff as the Assistant Coach after serving as the Assistant Coach for two years at Southwestern College. Byrne was involved in all aspects of the program while at Southwestern and coached several KCAC honorable mention selections.


Prior to becoming the Assistant coach at Southwestern College, Byrne coached at the University of South Carolina Beaufort, where she served as an assistant coach for her alma mater. After completing a three-year playing career for the USC-Beaufort Sand Sharks, Byrne began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach for the squad. Byrne was involved in training, travel, academics and community service. Byrne was actively involved in the recruitment of student-athletes and counseled team members on and off the field in the areas of character development, drug and alcohol awareness and academic advising.


While at USCB, Byrne was also involved with several soccer camps for Elite Soccer Showcase and TeamFirst Soccer Academy and was able to work along notable women’s soccer players such as Mia Hamm and Kristine Lilly. She received her UEFA Football Association Level One and Two certificates in Coaching Football and recently received her United Soccer Coaches Level One and Two Goalkeeping licenses.


A native of Coventry, England, Byrne spent several seasons coaching for Coventry City Ladies club teams. She also coached at numerous soccer camps and schools around England with different center of excellence programs.


Byrne graduated with her Master’s in Business Administration in 2017 and her Bachelors of Arts in History with a concentration in law in 2014.
