Luigi Scire

Luigi Scire enters his 25th season as the Head Women's Soccer coach at Webster University in 2023-24.


Since beginning the program in 1999, Scire has helped the Gorloks compile an overall record of 358-110-19 (.755). The program has won 15 SLIAC Championships in 24 years while compiling a 211-23-5 (.893) league record. The women's soccer team has made 15 appearances in the NCAA Division III Tournament, advancing to the second round of the NCAA tournament on four different occasions.


Scire has the 15th highest all-time winning percentage (.755) among NCAA III coaches and the 26th highest women's all-time winning percentage in all divisions. Scire has been named SLIAC Coach of the Year seven times in 24 seasons, most recently in 2018 and he joined the '300' win club during the 2018 with Webster's 3-1 win on Oct. 3 at Westminster (Mo.) College.


During Scire's coaching tenure the team has produced 93 First Team All-Conference players, 184 All-Conference selections, 11 SLIAC Newcomers of the Year, 15 SLIAC Players of the Year, and 11 SLIAC Tournament Most Valuable Players. In addition, the team has had a player voted CoSIDA All-American and nine CoSIDA All-District. The team had its first USC Academic All-American in 2015, and the first in SLIAC history. Thirty-three Gorloks have landed on USC Academic All-Region and 27 on the All-Central Region Teams. Three players have been recognized as NCAA Division III National Statistical Champions for goals, points per game, and goals against average and the program has had 11 Webster Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees and three SLIAC Hall of Fame selections.


For 24 consecutive years, Scire's teams have won the prestigious United Soccer Coaches (USC) Team Academic Award and in 2018-19, the team was honored with the inaugural USC Team Pinnacle Award. The Team Pinnacle Award was created by the USC to recognize teams for achieving a high level of fair play, educational excellence and success on the soccer field. Additionally, the team received the Ethics Award from the USC for the 13th time in 2020-21.


Under Scire's leadership, the women's soccer team is in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Record Book 18 times including:

Melissa Kasper (2016-2019) ranks 17th all-time in career assists (54)

Christy Little (1999-2002) ranks 11th all-time in Goals-Against Average (0.294 in 3,065 minutes)

Scire and his wife, Tina, have four adult children and reside in St. Louis.

Mike Hutchison

Michael Hutchison, associate head coach, begins his 23rd season coaching at Webster University. Hutchinson has assisted head coach Luigi Scire throughout the 23-year history of the women's soccer program. He is a graduate of Webster University and earned NSCAA All-Midwest Regional honors during his playing career.


Hutchison was inducted into the Webster University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2011, in just the second year of voting. Hutchison was the Webster career leader in goals, assists, and points upon his graduation in 1990, and is still second in goals and points. He played high school soccer at Fox Senior High School and was inducted into the Fox High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.


Hutchison serves as the Head Girls Soccer coach at Windsor High School in Imperial, Mo., where he teaches industrial arts.
