Katie Ritchie was named the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer head coach by Director of Athletics Daniel Stange on Dec. 6, 2018.
Ritchie brings a vast wealth of experience to the Firebirds as a coach and player at both the professional and club levels.
Originally from Canada, Ritchie has played at the highest level of professional soccer, competing in England with Chelsea Ladies FC and winning the FA Women’s Premier League championship with the Surrey County reserves.
Ritchie was also captain of LA Strikers FC, playing every match of the season, and finished her playing career in the Norwegian Toppserien with Amazon Grimstad.
Ritchie has also coached at the highest levels of soccer, returning to her former clubs LA Strikers and Amazon Grimstad to coordinate summer camps and coach the U-16 team, respectively.
In 2016 at Carlsbad High School, she led the freshman team to an undefeated season and the best record in the history of the program.
She also spent eight years with Vancouver Whitecaps FC as an academy and prospects coach, a regional development coach, and the lead coach of summer camps. Most recently, she was involved at the club level with LA Galaxy San Diego in the DA and DPL programs, as well as assisting their semi-pro Women’s Premier Soccer League team.
