Katie Ritchie

Katie Ritchie was named the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer head coach by Director of Athletics Daniel Stange on Dec. 6, 2018.


Ritchie brings a vast wealth of experience to the Firebirds as a coach and player at both the professional and club levels.


Originally from Canada, Ritchie has played at the highest level of professional soccer, competing in England with Chelsea Ladies FC and winning the FA Women’s Premier League championship with the Surrey County reserves.


Ritchie was also captain of LA Strikers FC, playing every match of the season, and finished her playing career in the Norwegian Toppserien with Amazon Grimstad.


Ritchie has also coached at the highest levels of soccer, returning to her former clubs LA Strikers and Amazon Grimstad to coordinate summer camps and coach the U-16 team, respectively.


In 2016 at Carlsbad High School, she led the freshman team to an undefeated season and the best record in the history of the program.


She also spent eight years with Vancouver Whitecaps FC as an academy and prospects coach, a regional development coach, and the lead coach of summer camps. Most recently, she was involved at the club level with LA Galaxy San Diego in the DA and DPL programs, as well as assisting their semi-pro Women’s Premier Soccer League team.

Paul Ritchie

Paul Ritchie joined the University of Saint Katherine women’s soccer staff as an assistant coach for his first season during the 2019-20 academic year.


Following a 17-year playing career, Ritchie became a UEFA Pro licensed soccer coach, possessing


experience at both elite first team and youth team levels having worked in Major League Soccer, the Scottish Premiership and for Manchester United Soccer Schools, focusing on complete tactical, technical


and physical progression to build successful teams and players capable of performing at the


highest level.


Since January of 2016, Ritchie has served as Head of Academy at LA Galaxy San Diego, where he is responsible for the academy’s overall administration, short and long term planning, and the development of age appropriate


soccer programs in collaboration with members, the Board of Directors and the Executive Board.


Ritchie has also served as the Technical Director at FC Sol as well as an assistant head coach with both Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Carolina RailHawks FC. He was also a coach with Manchester Unites Soccer Schools and Dundee FC.


He received his UEFA Pro License in 2013.

Gregg Cacioppo

Gregg Cacioppo begins his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Saint Katherine men’s and women’s soccer programs in 2019.


Cacioppo, a North County San Diego native, joined the Firebirds in March of 2018.


In addition to his coaching at USK, Cacioppo is currently the Director of Recreation for LA Galaxy San Diego and is one of the heads of player development for the Junior Galaxy Girls.


Cacioppo received his bachelor’s degree in sports administration with an emphasis in coaching at Lock Haven University where he played club soccer and rugby. He went on to get his master’s degree in sports management form West Virginia University.


Cacioppo played 3 years of varsity soccer under legendary coach David Whiddon at Rancho Buena Vista High School. During his junior season his team was ranked seventh in the nation, the first time any sport at RBVHS was ranked nationally. While at RBV, Cacioppo was part of two teams that went to the CIF Division I Championship game. He was also named captain his senior season.


Cacioppo was born and raised in coastal North County San Diego. Throughout his youth career he played for elite club Carlsbad Lightning winning numerous soccer tournaments and league titles playing for great coaches including Michael Duggen (Director of Operations LA Galaxy San Diego), Johnson Asiedu (Technical Director of SDFC), and Richard Gough (Former Scottish National Team Captain).
