Shaun Schetka

Shaun Schetka enters his third season as the head coach of the men’s soccer program at UPIKE in 2023-24.

Schetka was elevated to head coach of the men's programs following the 2020-21 season after serving five seasons as the assistant coach of both programs.

During his time with both programs, Schetka has helped develop the program’s first two-time Men’s Soccer Mid-South Conference Goalkeeper, Men’s Soccer All-time leading goal scorer along with improving both team’s results on the field. The growth of the programs have also shown off the field, where both teams consistently post high semester grade point averages, place students on the Mid South Academic All-Conference team, and NAIA All-Academic student athletes.

Prior to UPIKE, Schetka served as the head women’s soccer coach at Penn State Beaver, helping the team to its most drastic turnaround in program history. During his three years at the helm, the program went from zero wins to ultimately winning the 2015 PSUAC Conference Championship. In 2015, the program set not only a school record for wins and goals scored, but also developed the first USCAA All-Americans in program history.

Under Schetka’s watch, Penn State Beaver had eighteen PSUAC All-Academic selections.

Schetka was named the 2016 Pennsylvania West Competitive Male Youth Coach of the Year and has experience working in the NPSL, serving as the public relations coordinator for the Fort Pitt Regiment for two seasons.

As a player, Schetka had a unique experience. From 2005 to 2009, he played on the United States Men’s Paralympic National Team, competing in 19 games and scoring four goals for his country in international tournaments. He also competed for one season at Southern Vermont College before choosing to focus on academics.

Schetka holds a National B License from the United States Soccer Federation, an Advanced National Diploma, along with the Level 1-2 Goalkeeping Diplomas from the USC.

The New Brighton, Pa., native completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, along with his Master’s degree in Sport Management with a concentration in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration, from California University of Pennsylvania.
