Dan Heger

Heger is in his 19th season as the head coach at Hardin-Simmons.

He is the school's all-time wins leader with a record of 181-101-41.

Played at Hardin-Simmons and was the captain of the 1979 team that was ranked third in the region in Division I.

Led the Cowboys to five American Southwest Conference titles (2005, 2006, 2009, 2013 and 2014).

Has led the Cowboys to 18 straight ASC Tournaments.

HSU went to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2009, becoming the first ASC team to reach that level of the NCAA Tournament.

He also coached the Cowboys to a league-record 22-game unbeaten streak in conference play.

Set the school record with 10 straight wins to start the 2019 season.

Has coached two All-Americans, nine all-region players (16 total selections) and 63 all-ASC players.

Heger came to HSU from McMurry, where he started their program from scratch. He went 20-14-2 at McMurry.

Prior to that Heger had been a respected high school coach at Temple High School, where his teams earned 13 straight playoff appearances and six trips to at least the regional round.

He was also the President of the Texas High School Soccer Coaches Association.

Heger won several district and regional coach of the year awards at Temple.

Was the head coach at Mary Hardin-Baylor for one year.

He also spent some time as an assistant coach at Hardin-Simmons after his playing career.

He and wife Cylinda, who is also a Hardin-Simmons graduate, have been married for 38 years.

They have two children Harrison and Hannah.

Harrison is married to Chelsy and they have three children, Harlow, Hutton and Hazel.

Hannah is married to Corbin Gardner and they are both HSU graduates.

A native of Pennsylvania, Heger was a player for the Cowboys in 1979, earning first-team All-Trans America Athletic Conference honors.

He played at Park College, prior to coming to Hardin-Simmons, where he was an NAIA All-American.

Heger played professionally with the North American Soccer League's Detroit Express and the San Diego Shockers. He also played for the Waco Kickers. Heger played club soccer on the V.E. European Tour.

He has an education degree from Hardin-Simmons.

Matt Pitcock

Pitcock is in his third season as the full-time assistant coach for the Cowboy soccer program.

Has been instrumental in a strong recruiting effort that has refilled the roster with talent from top to bottom.

He had served as a graduate assistant and student coach for the Cowboys after a successful career at HSU from 2010-2014.

He is also a club coach for Sting West Texas.

Also Coach for Stars n' Stripes International Soccer Tours.

Coached the finalist Denton Diablos U13 Academy in the summer of 2021 in the Monterrey Cup of Mexico.

Pitcock was a team captain for HSU and was an all-ASC and all-region player.

He was also a two-time CoSIDA academic all-district selection, a three-time academic all-ASC selection and was a two-time American Southwest Conference Distinguished Scholar-Athlete for men’s soccer.

He played professionally in Switzerland in 2015 with FC Bern in Erste Liga, FC Jammerbugt of Denmark, BK Hacken Trail (Sweden) and spent college summers training with BK Hacken of Sweden, FC Nordsjaelland of Denmark, Odder IGF of Denmark, and FC Koniz of Switzerland.

He played with Texas Football Club in UPSL Super-20 (Semi-Pro) Summer League 2011 and 2012 (National Semifinalists in Sarasota, Florida in 2011).

Has a bachelor's degree in Economics with a Business Administration and Exercise Science minor from HSU.

Also has a MBA from Hardin-Simmons.
