Erin Saleeby

Erin Saleeby was promoted to Head Women’s Soccer Coach in February 2019 after serving 5 years as assistant coach under James Lofton. She joined the Ferrum athletics staff as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach in August 2014.


Saleeby previously served as junior varsity coach at Franklin County High School for nine seasons, as well as an assistant U18 girls coach for Franklin County Star, and director of the Academy for Franklin County Star. Before coming to Ferrum, she also worked as a Qualified Mental Health Clinician.


Saleeby played collegiately at NCAA Div. II Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was an All-Conference second team selection in the Carolinas Conference her senior year. Saleeby earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Elementary Education from Queens in 2009. She later earned her master's degree from Walden University in 2011, majoring in Psychology of Culture.


A native of Rocky Mount, Saleeby is a 2005 graduate of Franklin County High School, where she was a four-year varsity player, as well as ran cross country, indoor and outdoor track.

Mikayla Cannaday

Mikayla Cannaday joined the Ferrum women's soccer coaching staff in August 2019 after earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Ferrum in May. She majored in Health Science at Ferrum with minors in Biology and Coaching. Cannaday played soccer for the Panthers from 2015-18, earning All-Conference East Division First Team honors in 2016 from the USA South Athletic Conference.


Cannaday was a USA South Academic All-Conference selection in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18, and enjoyed the same honor from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference in 2018-19. She was also a USA South All-Sportsmanship Team member in 2016 and 2017, earned Dean List all eight semesters at Ferrum and was a member of Ferrum's Biology Honor Society.


Cannaday will work with first-year Head Coach Erin Saleeby, who was an assistant during all four seasons of Cannaday's collegiate playing career. Prior to her graduation last May, Cannaday helped Saleeby with the Panthers' spring non-traditional season, assisting with drills, practice plans and goalkeeper training. She served as a personal trainer at the Carilion Wellness Westlake during spring 2019, as well as a Fitness Center Instructor at the Ferrum YMCA from 2015-18. Cannaday began work at Ferrum on August 1.

Wes Lewis

Wes Lewis joined the Ferrum athletics staff as Volunteer Assistant Women's Soccer Coach in September of 2015. He has worked in soccer coaching, training and management in Washington D.C., Greensboro, N.C., and Martinsville, Va., since graduating from James Madison University in 2000 with a BS in Kinesiology. Throughout his career, Lewis has coached young adult teams, working for multiple public school systems and clubs. Lewis now owns and directs Uppr9t LLC in Martinsville, which offers individual, small-group and team training, plus camps and academies. It also sponsors showcase teams, taking them to summer tournaments for exposure. Upper9t teams, both girls and boys, have won regional and national tournaments. Lewis specializes in technical training and preparation for college; he uses soccer to teach life lessons and skills that will benefit young people in whatever path they pursue in college and beyond.


Lewis played for the JMU club team, where he was a four-year player, three-year starter and team captain. Prior to that, Lewis was a standout at Martinsville High School, earning Piedmont District Player of the Year honors as a senior and receiving All-District, All-Region and All-State. Lewis holds a USSF National "C" License and USSF National Youth License.
