Randy Douglas

Randy Douglas is entering his 23rd year at the helm of the Point women's soccer program. During his time as the head coach, the team has accumulated two region titles and two second-place and third-place finishes in the NCCAA II National Tournament. The Skyhawks have played in nine of 10 Appalachian Athletic Conference tournaments since joining the AAC in 2012. Point has played in five NCCAA National tournaments, four at the Division II level, and one at the Division I level.

2021 season: Point had its most successful season since 2016, as the Skyhawks went 11-8-1 and 10-3-1 in AAC play. For the first time since 2014, women's soccer advanced to the semifinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament after upsetting Tennessee Wesleyan in the quarterfinal round of the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament. The team was led by senior Carmen Kager who earned a spot on the All-AAC team after finishing the season with seven goals and a team-high of eight assists. Kager recorded a hat trick against Columbia College (S.C.) and it was Point's first hat trick since 2017 and the first hat trick the Skyhawks have had in AAC play since joining the conference in 2012. Erica Burkhardt, Kelly Carlisle, and Jasmine Mathis were recognized on the All-AAC second team.

The 2020 team posted a 5-7-1 overall record with Kelly Carlisle earning a spot on the All-AAC second team.

The 2019 squad posted records of 7-12-1 overall and 4-8-1 in conference and finished 10th in the Appalachian Athletics Conference regular-season standings. The Skyhawks defeated Columbia International in the AAC Tournament first round, 2-1 (OT), and lost 2-1 at Tennessee Wesleyan in the quarterfinals.

The 2016 Point team posted records of 12-5-2 overall and 8-2 in conference and placed second in the regular standings and Douglas was named AAC Coach of the Year. Point was eliminated from the AAC Tournament in the quarterfinal round by Bryan College, which won on PKs, 5-4, after the teams finished the match at 1-1.

He has coached one AAC Player of the Year (Celly Ruiz in 2016), one NAIA All-American (Celly Ruiz in 2016), four All-AAC first-team, and nine All-AAC second selections, 39 AAC All-Academic selections; four Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes and 19 NCCAA Scholar-Athletes.

Before becoming head women’s soccer coach at Point in 2001, he served as Point's head men’s coach when he was initially hired in 2000 and was head coach of the men’s and women’s teams through the 2012 season.

Overall, Douglas has 25 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, coaching both men’s and women’s soccer teams. He was the head soccer coach at Tennessee Temple University from 1993-97, winning an NCCAA Region Championship in 1993 and placing fourth at the NCCAA National Tournament that same year.

While pursuing his Master’s degree, Coach Douglas also accepted a position as an assistant coach at Bryan University and helped coach two NAIA regional championship teams as well as a conference championship team in 1998.

Douglas is a 1987 graduate of Tennessee Temple University where he finished up with a degree in Business Administration. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Sports Administration from the United States Sports Academy in 1999.

He and his wife Felicita live in nearby LaGrange.
