President's Cup now in its 8th Year

Georgia Soccer is pleased to invite your team to apply to the Georgia Soccer President's Cup - State Championship and Festival open to Academy, Athena* and Classic* teams.

As the final event of the spring season, the President's Cup will be an exciting, competitive tournament offering great games, great fun and great results - State Champions in many divisions! Winners in the u13 and older top divisions are eligible to advance to the Regional President's Cup hosted by the CESA Soccer Club in South Carolina in June.

Venues

Round-robin games will be played at various venues in the Atlanta area. Once divisions are finalized, groups will be assigned to venues.

Eligibility*

All GYSA registered teams in the following categories are eligible to participate.

A team may participate in the President's Cup or State Cup, but not both.

Guest players are not allowed.

Academy: all u10 and u11 teams eligible
Classic: all Classic 2 teams and lower eligible
Athena: all Athena B teams and lower eligible

We will not be hosting a U12 Division in the President's Cup. U12 teams are encouraged to enter the U12 Academy Cup - for U12 teams only.

Following is a summary of the important tournament dates.

February 2009 - Application available on-line.

March 27, 2009 - Application deadline.

May 6, 2009 - Check-in meeting. Peachtree Charter Middle School.

May 9-10, 2009 - Tournament games.

May 10, 2008 - Championship matches.

Tournament Eligibility
The President's Cup is open to select teams, classic*, athena* and academy registered and in good standing with their US Youth Soccer affiliated association. Age groups for this years’ tournament are u10, u11, u13, u14, u15, u16, u17, u19 for boys and girls.

Guest players are not allowed.

The President's Cup will not have a u12 Academy Division. U12 Academy teams are eligible to compete in the Academy Cup.

Divisions
Teams will be grouped according to past playing record to make the most competitive divisions possible. The Tournament Committee alone determines final placement. The Committee uses many factors when ranking teams including league playing division and record and tournament results, etc....

Round-Robin - May 9-10, 2009 Finals - May 10, 2009 Tournament T-shirts will be for sale for $15.00 at all venues. Get yours early to make sure you get the correct size. 5.10.09 - 5:00 pm- All games are completed. Congratulations to our Champions and Finalists and all the teams that competed this weekend. There were many very close games and the level of soccer played was fantastic. Thanks to all the parents and fans who supported their teams. Thanks also to the venue managers and their staff who worked so hard to make your weekend a good one. Please take a minute to complete the survey above. 5.10.09 - Happy Mother's Day! All venues are open and running on schedule. Good luck and have fun! 5.9.09 - 6:30 pm - It was a great day at the President's Cup. We hope you enjoyed your games and had a good day with your family and friends. We are watching the weather and are hopeful that any heavy rain will stay away. At this time we are scheduled to play all games as scheduled. If anything changes tonight, which we are not expecting, we will update the site. If things remain as is, please report to your venue as scheduled for tomorrow's games. 5.9.09 - Let the games begin! Good luck to all teams in the President's Cup. Play safe, play fair and have fun. All venues are open and ready to play. See you at the fields. 5.8.09 - At this time we are not expecting any field/weather problems for Saturday games. If anything changes we will email the coach/manager and update this message. Once the tournament begins, unless a venue closes, you will receive field information at the venue. Please check your schedule as some field numbers have changed. The tournament committee and venue managers do everything possible to get your games played. Please be patient if we do get rain and games are delayed or moved. 5.04.09 - IMPORTANT INFORMATION - CHECK-IN MEETING LOCATION CHANGE. In order to provide more time for check-in we have moved the location and added additional times. Check-in will be at the Georgia Soccer office. Please see the Check-In Document under the DOCUMENTS tab for the latest information. 4.28.09 - Schedules are now posted. Please make sure you have all your paperwork for the check-in meeting on Wednesday, May 6 at Peachtree Charter Middle School. Click on the Documents Tab for check-in requirements. 4.15.09 - Hotel information is listed under the INFORMATION tab. 4.14.09 - Divisions with venues are now posted. We have openings for u10 girls, u14 boys and u15 girls. Please contact ssafriet@gasoccer.org if you would like to play. Schedules will be posted by May 1. 4.7.09 - Accepted teams now posted. 4.1.09 - Entries look very good for the President's Cup. The Committee is currently reviewing TEAMS that have applied. For a complete list, click on the TEAMS tab and then the APPLIED tab. We need a few teams to round out divisions - see above. If you know of a team that would like to fill out a bracket, please have them complete the application form - online with payment. 3.27.09 - Due to the number of requests, we are extending the application deadline for President's Cup through Tuesday, March 31. Please remember that your application is not complete until your payment is received.
