AFC Lightning invites you to apply to enter the AFC Lightning Spring Challenge.

For many years we have held the Spring Challenge in March during the spring season. This year there are less available weekends than normal to play games, so we have moved the tournament to pre-season, making it easier for teams to attend. We limit the ages for this tournament since the older Georgia players are involved in high school play at this time.

TEAMS
The tournament is USYSA sanctioned but will accept teams from other other organizations such as US Club Soccer. Three guest players are allowed. The Tournament Committee is planning single age group competition with a maximum of eight teams per playing division.

Tournament Cancelled

Due to the current and expected weather and field conditions, we will have to cancel AFC Lightning's Spring Challenge. Teams will receive a partial refund. Our rules allow for a 50% return, but we expect to be able to give back more than that.

A combination of factors have led to our decision. First, with so much slush on the roads, the snow continuing to fall and temperatures expected to drop dramatically before morning everything will freeze over, making travel difficult and dangerous, even for a noon start.

The amount of snow on the fields is also a factor. When it does start to mealt it will probably just sit there and not run off, making playing conditions very dangerous. It would also possibly lead to a lot of damage to the fields.

I apologize for having to cancel, but there's nothing we can do about the weather. Hopefully making the decision at this time will not be too much of an inconvenience to all of you who had planned on participating.

Thanks again for your patience through all of this,

Bryan

We Have Moved to Pre-Season!
This year we are moving the Spring Challenge from a March midseason tournament to a February pre-season tournament. It was felt that with the number of weekends during the spring season already limited it was a stretch asking teams to take another one off, thus the move to pre-season.
