The Georgia Soccer Academy Committee would like invite all Georgia registered u12 boys and girls teams to participate in the annual U12 Academy Cup on May 16-17, 2009. The tournament will be held at the Allen Creek Soccer Complex and will offer competitive games for teams that have completed their Academy experience and are moving to select in the Fall.

The tournament will showcase only u12s, with three or more flights offered for both boys and girls teams. Results of this event will be one of the determining factors for U13 select placement in the fall.

Over the years the Academy program has grown to become the true bridge between recreational and select soccer and the committee anticipates this event will spotlight the success of the program by showcasing the talent and development of all of the u12 players.

Following is a summary of the important tournament dates.

March 1, 2009 - Application available on-line.

April 17 - Application deadline.

May 13 - Team check-in.

May 16-17 - Tournament games.

JUST THE FACTS

Tournament Eligibility
The Academy Cup is open to u12 teams, registered and in good standing with Georgia Youth Soccer Association. Teams will play either 8v8 or 11v11.

Divisions
Teams will be grouped to make the most competitive divisions possible. The Academy Cup Committee determines final placement. The Committee will use many factors to place teams into groups including game and tournament results, coach recommendations and level of team submitted on application....

2009 Academy Cup May 16-17, 2009 5.17.09 - 6:45 am - The fields are wet but all fields are open at Allen Creek. Bring your rain gear as the forecast is calling for showers. We will keep playing and do our best to get all games played. 5.16.09 - 7:30 pm. There were some very competitive games today and everything got played - in spite of the rain. We hope the weather will be better tomorrow. See you at the fields! 5.16.09 - 3:20 pm. All games are playing. 5.16.09 - 2:30 pm. We are in a rain delay at this time. It looks like we will be able to resume play in about 30 minutes. Please bring an umbrella. Sorry for the rain and we'll play as soon as we can. 5.15.09 - Make sure your team stops by the bungee jump and slide while at the Academy Cup. All rides are free and the players have a great time. WEATHER INFORMATION - We are aware of the thunderstorms predicted over the weekend and are hopeful we will get all games played - as scheduled. If anything changes we will update the website. Once games begin - unless the venue closes - you will have to get field information at the venue.
