Eliza Denmeade

Denmeade is entering her third year at University of Wisconsin-Platteville and first as the head coach of the women's program. She joined the Pioneer staff in summer of 2021 and is involved in all aspects of the women’s soccer program. Denmeade also serves as a recruiting coordinator and certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) for the Athletic Department.


During the 2022 season, Denmeade helped lead the women’s soccer program to the best season in program history going 12-6-2. During her first year, the women’s soccer program rebounded from a 2-15-2 record the previous season to a 9-6-3 finish. During this transformation the program went unbeaten the entire month of September and became regionally ranked for the first time. Over the past two seasons, Denmeade has mentored Lydia Smith and Amber Leuder to First Team All-WIAC honors and Annalise Spindle to All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.


Denmeade is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and works on the University strength and condition staff along with teaching several academic classes. She graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a master’s degree in Exercise Science and concentration in Human Performance. In conjunction with her graduate work, Denmeade played a 5th year of women’s soccer for the UIndy Greyhounds. Denmeade was a three-sport athlete at Erskine College in South Carolina while completing her undergraduate degree in Athletic Training.


Denmeade was a 4-year starter for the Erskine College Women’s Soccer team, started in 60 games and logged over 4,000 minutes as a midfielder and defender. During her senior season, Denmeade led the Fleet to NCCAA Regional Championship. Denmeade also played Basketball and Lacrosse during her career at Erskine and earned Conference of the Carolina’s All-Conference honors as a Lacrosse defender her senior year.

Tom Corcoran

Jesse Tinney joined the Pioneer staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2021. He is involved in all aspects of the men’s and women’s soccer programs.


A Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, Tinney graduated from Chartiers Valley High School where he was an All-Conference player and League All-Star. He served as a team captain and was a three-year letter winner. He went on to a standout collegiate career playing as a midfielder for the University of Mount Union and played in a total of 70 games making 63 starts. During his 2018 season at Mount Union, the team reached its first-ever national rank (#13), highest ever regional rank (#2), and completed nine consecutive shutouts. He was voted Rookie of the Year by his teammates after the 2014 campaign. Tinney was also voted the team’s Offensive MVP in two consecutive seasons, and the Overall MVP in 2016. He graduated from Mount Union in 2018 with undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Business Management.


Following his collegiate career, Tinney earned his D License through the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) in 2019 and went on to coach for Beadling Soccer club in Pittsburgh. He coached the club’s youth academy teams and the 2008 boys age group. Under Tinney, the ‘08 boys team won the 2021 PA West State Cup and earned a spot in the USYS Eastern 2021 Regional Championships where they placed as finalists. Tinney’s ‘08 team was recently invited to play in the MLS Next Developmental League for the 2021 Fall season. It will be the club’s first-ever team to participate in the league.


Tinney is on pace to complete the USSF C Course in October of 2021. He will also be pursuing a master’s degree in Athletic Coaching this coming Fall semester through Mount Union’s online graduate program.

Christian Alvarado

Christian Alvarado is entering his fourth year at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Alvarado joined the Pioneer staff as a Graduate assistant coach in the summer of 2020. He is involved in all aspects of the men’s and women’s soccer programs.


During Alvarado’s first season as an assistant coach the men’s team finished with an impressive 13-5-2 record. During the season the team had its longest unbeaten streak in program history at 14 games. Other team accomplishments included Jack Gentilli earning Third Team All-Region honors and being named the Wisconsin Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, Chase Werner earned All-Wisconsin 2nd Team, Konrad Ziaja earned All-Wisconsin Honorable Mention and Lucas Schoeneberg also earned All-Wisconsin Honorable Mention.


Alvarado helped the women’s team in 2021 finish with an overall record of 9-6-3. During the season the team had the best start in program history and went undefeated for the entire month of September. Other team accomplishments included Amber Lueder earning First Team All-WIAC honors and Annalise Spindle being named to the All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.


During the 2022 men’s season, Alvarado helped lead the team to an NCAA Tournament appearance with a 12-5-3 record. The coaching staff and the team received several awards during the 2022 season. Alvarado and the staff received Coast-to-Coast Coaching Staff of the Year award. The team accomplishments included Jack Gentilli earning his second All-Region and All-Wisconsin honors while also being All-Conference. Additionally, Danny Gutzwiller was named the Conference Rookie of the Year, while Konrad Ziaja, Clayton Lautenschlaeger, and Alester Dawson received All-Conference honors. Danny Gutzwiller, Konrad Ziaja, and Clayton Lautenschlaeger were also named to the All-Wisconsin team.


During the 2022 women’s season, Alvarado helped lead the team to its best season in program history with a 12-6-2 record. The team also made it to the quarterfinals of the WIAC Tournament. Team accomplishments included Lydia Smith earning All-WIAC honors and Annalise Spindle being named to the All-WIAC Sportsmanship Team.


A San Diego, California native, Alvarado graduated from Hoover high where he was an All-Conference player. He served as a team captain three years and a three-year letter winner. He went on to a standout collegiate career playing as a midfielder for the Heidelberg University. Alvarado was a 4-year standout, as a sophomore, he earned second team all-conference for the 2016 season, and earned ALL-OAC in 2017 as a junior. Alvarado appeared in 60 games while starting 50 before ending his career early due to injury. He captained the program in 2016, 2017, and 2018. During his 2017 season at Heidelberg, the team reached its highest national ranking (#9). Alvarado was voted Overall MVP in 2017.


He graduated from Heidelberg College in 2019 with undergraduate degrees in Communication and Integrated Media. He also received a Master’s degree for Sports Administration from UW-Platteville in May of 2023.

Christian Alvarado

Christian Alvarado Burgos is in his second year as the assistant coach.


Alvarado graduated from Heidelberg University (Tiffin, OH) in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Integrated Media.


Alvarado was a 4-year standout at Heidelberg. As a sophomore, he earned second team all-conference for the 2016 season, and earned ALL-OAC in 2017 as a junior. Alvarado appeared in 60 games while starting 50 before ending his career early due to injury. He captained the program in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Over his career, Alvarado tallied 1 goal and 10 assists while playing in the midfield.


After Heidelberg, Alvarado was the varsity assistant soccer coach for both boys and girls at his alma mater, Hoover High School, in San Diego, CA.
