Mark Hammond

Mark Hammond, a native of Dublin, Ireland, a graduate from LSUA and Missouri Baptist University, and a LSUA men’s soccer alumnus, will be entering his inaugural season as head women’s soccer coach at LSUA in 2022.

Announced as head women’s soccer coach in January, Hammond is the third alumnus to lead the Generals.

Prior to taking the reigns as the head women’s soccer coach, Hammond has served as an assistant coach at Jefferson College for both men and women’s soccer over two stints from 2018-2019 and 2020-2021. Hammond joined the Vikings in 2018 after graduating from LSUA and played an instrumental role in creating the first women’s soccer program in Jefferson College’s history. Returning for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, Hammond oversaw both programs competing for District Championships in both postseasons while the Men’s team won back-to-back Region XI championships and the conference championship in 2021.

Between both stints at Jefferson College, Hammond accepted a graduate assistant position at Missouri Baptist University where he worked with the women’s soccer program while graduating with a master’s degree in sport management. The Spartans finished third in conference play and enjoyed their longest undefeated streak in program history. The Spartans season ended in the conference tournament final in 2019 to a defeat to Columbia College.

As an under-graduate, Hammond holds the joint all time appearance record with 69 appearances for the LSUA men’s soccer program. Hammond was part of the inaugural soccer program freshman class. Hammond captained the program to back-to-back Red River Athletic Conference Tournament finals in 2016 and 2017 while leading the program to their first ever conference tournament championship in 2016.
