Stefan Draganov

Stefan Draganov was named the head coach of the men's soccer program in July 2004.


Draganov brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Howard Community College's Men’s Soccer Program. A former professional soccer player and coach of high level soccer in Bulgaria, Hong Kong, and Portugal combined with his serious knowledge of the game and leadership has given him a unique ability to discover, develop, and coach soccer talents for the elite levels of the game.


Over the years coach Draganov has coached at all levels (pro, youth, college and amateur) in the United States and Europe.


2010 was the most successful year in Coach Draganov’s college career. Under his direction, the Howard CC Men’s soccer team won the Maryland JUCO Conference (11-0-1) and Region XX titles, and advanced to the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) National Championship Tournament for the first time in HCC men’s soccer history.


In the same year, Draganov received both the Maryland JUCO Conference and NJCAA District “F” Coach of the Year awards. He was also named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region Coach of the Year.


In 2010, the Dragons posted a 17-2-3 overall record, and spent the entire season ranked in the NJCAA Top 15 poll, ending the season ranked 6th. The Howard CC Dragons have also been recognized as one of the top 15 teams in the Nation (ranked #9) by the NSCAA.


Stefan Draganov is also deeply involved in youth soccer in Howard County. Currently he is Director of coaching for Thunder Soccer Club. He has been coaching many successful youth teams in the club, and runs the successful Draganov School of Soccer (camps and clinics).


Coach Draganov and his wife, Mariana, reside in Pikesville, Maryland with their son Angel.
